Nutrition – why filter tap water?
How to reduce harmful substances   Improving taste

Taste and appearance of food and drinks are improved

Even drinking-water is of good quality in an international comparison, the taste and appearance of beverages, especially hot beverages, can be greatly improved by using filtered water.

Apart from that: drinking water can affect your health negatively due to harmful substances in it that have been loosened from the household piping.

The high lime content of hard water (water with a high carbon hardness) stops the aroma from developing fully. Lime binds some of the tannic acid that can be found in tea. This results in unattractive streaks appearing, especially on tea.

Coffee can taste bitter when prepared with hard water.

A direct comparison demonstrates:

The left side shows tea prepared with unfiltered water. The streaks are easy to recognise.

The right side shows tea, the way it should look – clear and without streaks.

The difference in taste is similarly obvious.

By using filtered water to prepare coffee, coffee can develop its full aroma.

Soft water ensures that coffee tastes less bitter.

Filtered water is also ideal for preparing baby food. Using a water filter is an especially simple and sensible action when drinking water has possibly been altered by the household piping.
What is good for big and small people, is also good for animals, of course
Fresh vegetables should still look appetising and contain a maximum amount of vitamines after being cooked. Cooked in filtered water, fresh vegetables leach out less. Essences and natural colours are preserved more efficiently..
If cut flowers and pot plants are given filtered water, they flourish and last for longer, because the filtered water lowers amount of unwanted salts that strain the plants.

Most plants, regardless whether those found in the garden, on the balcony or indoors, tolerate soft water better that water with a lot of lime in it. Especially orchids should be watered with soft water.

Tip: Please the eye – ice cubes made of filtered water are clearer.
